Best foods for weight loss: The 7 Best Foods for Weight Loss

Posted by 104Inc.com on January 16, 2009

Losing weight is not about starving yourself and subsisting on seltzer. Eat too little and the only place you’ll feel lighter is your head. Plus, research shows that any pounds you lose will likely come back–plus more. One of the healthiest ways to shed pounds for good is to eat power foods that are naturally filling, nutrient-packed and, yes, proven to help you peel off pounds. Pile your plate with these prize possessions!

Steak
Women on a diet that included red meat lost more weight than those eating equal calories but little beef, according to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. One reason: The protein in lean cuts of steak helps you keep muscle mass during weight loss, and muscle incinerates more calories than fat, so you will shed more stubborn pudge. Try it: Grill or broil a 4-ounce serving of top round or sirloin; slice thinly to top a salad, or mix with veggies for fajitas.

Eggs
The breakfast staple can trim off inches all over. Research from the Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge found that women on a low-calorie diet who ate an egg with toast and jelly each morning lost twice as many pounds as those who had a bagel breakfast with the same number of calories but no eggs. Turns out, egg protein is particularly satisfying, so you liikely eat less during the course of the day.
Try it: Enjoy a morning omelette or frittata, or top your lunchtime salad with hard-boiled eggs.

Lentils
These beans can help banish belly bloat and reduce your belt size. Chock full of protein and soluble fiber, lentils can stabilize blood sugar levels and prevent insulin spikes that cause your body to create excess fat, especially in the abdominal area.
Try it: Toss lentils in soups, salads or pasta sauce. Or try this delicious Lentil Pilaf with Turkey Sausage.

Pomegranates
Low in calories, this fruit gets high marks for taste and nutritional content, thanks to a healthy dose of folate, fiber and disease-deterring antioxidants.
Try it: Skip the juice and snack on the seeds instead. Toss them into salad in place of nuts. Or try these Pomegranate and Cranberry Bellinis from Giada DeLaurentiis (one of her holiday faves).

Chiles
Some like it hot, and for good reason. Eating spicy numbers will spike your metabolism, courtesy of a compound in chiles called capsaicin, which helps the body burn extra calories for 20 minutes after you eat them. Bonus: It can be downright painful to inhale a plate of chiles, so you’ll eat slower, allowing your brain adequate time to register that it is full and prevent overeating.
Try it: Sample the savory entree that chef Nigella Lawson shared with SELF.

Quinoa
It might be hard to pronounce (it’s KEEN-wah), but eating quinoa offers a simple way to ward off the munchies. The grain is teeming with fiber (2.6 grams per 1/2 cup) and protein to keep you humming and hunger-free for hours.
Try it: Replace the rice in stir-fries with quinoa.

Parmesan
Say cheese! Women who had one serving of whole milk or cheese daily were less likely to gain weight over time, a study in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition finds. Dieters who ate lowfat varieties of dairy did not experience the same benefit. Why? Whole dairy may contain more conjugated linoleic acid, which could assist in the fat-burning department. And since Parmesan is so flavorful, you only need a few sprinkles to gain maximum flavor without compromising its pound-shedding power.
Try it: Grate Parmesan over veggies such as broccoli or asparagus, or pair a 1-ounce portion with an apple.

MASTER LIFE, DON’T LET IT MASTER YOU

Posted by 104Inc.com on November 3, 2008

He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still.   Tao Te Ch’ing

Some people are successful in mastering life,
while others permit life to master them.

There is a split in you that is very clear.
There is part of you that knows what you should do,
and a part of you that does what it feels like doing.

Don’t let passion drive you, let reason hold the reins.

Once you understand these opposing forces warring within you,
with this knowledge of the truth: you no longer remain a slave.
A clear understanding of this will make you the master of your life.

Resistance is your thoughts transformed into feelings.
Change the thoughts that create the resistance,
and there is no more resistance.

Are you controlled by your thoughts or are you controlling your thoughts?
If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.

If you are ruled by your mind, you are a king, if by your body, a slave.

You’re NOT losing any weight today, plain and simple!

Posted by 104Inc.com on August 20, 2008

OK, so you need to lose weight, but where do you start? Well, the key isn’t simple. It isn’t easy. But it is extremely effective! The solution: eat more…often that is. Let me put it to you like this. If you didn’t eat breakfast this morning, you’re not losing any weight today, plain and simple. Your body is a machine, and it’s time to put the pedal to the metal! You could put the cheapest gas in your car, and it will run, but it won’t nearly as smoothly as a higher-end, premium gasoline designed to clean your system, right? Same concept here. You need to modify your lifestyle and train your body.

Here’s what you do. Instead of eating 1-2 (or 3) big meals a day, break them down into 5-6 small meals, eating approximately every 2-3 hours. I know this sounds like a lot, and at first it may be difficult, but after no time you’ll be loving it! Look at the simple mechanics of it all. When you eat, your body digests the food, breaking it down. The speed in which it digests is dependent on how fast your metabolism is. The faster your metabolism, the quicker you digest, the less fat can sit and build up. So when you eat a big breakfast, your body begins breaking the food down, slowly building your metabolism for the day.

If you don’t eat for 8-10 hours, your metabolism has become stagnant, at a stand still, and will need time to rebuild speed; but if you eat every 2-3 hours, you don’t give your metabolism the chance to slow down, methodically building its speed.
Stay tuned for next week’s installment, when I discuss combining this metabo-speed technique with a low-carb diet. Until then, eat well, live well, and log on to 104Diet.com for all your diet needs!

Tips From India to Fight Obesity, Loose Weight and Build Your Self Worth!

Posted by 104Inc.com on August 19, 2008

Trying to loose weight can be a big problem and concern for some people.  Now and days people are getting fatter by the day.  So people now and days have no control or will and that is causing a higher rate of obesity in people.  Now with obesity come a lot of other things attached to like disease and physical activities get less.  Obesity also can bring down self confidence and self being in a person because being fat is really unacceptable in today’s society.  How being fat can have a lot of effects to the person’s personality, it can also bring negative feeling towards others and self.

How a lot of people in both genders are so dedicated to try and loose weight. This is so that they can try and fit in today’s societies.  Today’s age is that everybody competes with each other trying to be better then the other people.  Because if you are better then some body else in something then you can get the respect and try and gain some respect.  But unfortunately some can achieve there goals and some have a tougher time doing it and they give up on there goals.

How Loosing weight for some people has to be a must because they weigh too much.  How obesity can cause major cardiovascular problems in life.  If you want to loose weight you have to set a goal for your self and set some kind of motivational thing that will inspire you to go after it.  By loosing weight you can have a big impact in your life and others around you.

I will tell you on how you can get a couple of things that will help you in loosing weight.  This will help you in setting that goal for your self.

You can go to 104Exercise.com or 104Fitness.com and read several articles that will help you in your goal in life.

I would have to say the number one thing that you can do for your body is by drinking.  How drinking at least 7 to 10 glasses per day can help filter out toxins in the body.  Water can also simulate you being full when you are hungry.  By drinking water you will also take care of your skin and your body.  How water is another way for you to hydrate your body especially when you work out and are on a diet plan.  Water plays a big role in loosing weight. Drink a lot of water every day.

The number two thing which you would have to consider is exercise as a part of your weight loss.  How any kind of walking for like 30 minutes will make you sweat away the fat?  Now there are a lot of exercises out there that you can do to help your body start forming and loosing that fat away.  The one thing you have to remember is that starving your self is not an option because you are actually hurting your body and slowing down your metabolism.  What you will have to do is try and eat fewer portions and do something after you eat like have plenty of vegetables and fruits that will help you digest your food and make you feel full.

Something that you can do that will help you eat less is to get a smaller plate because studies have shown that your brain thinks you finished the plate so that way you feel full.  One major thing that will help your goal is to cut out all the junk foods and sodas because that is a big role in your diet.  Now for some people they can not just stop eating something that they really like, so what you can do it slowly cut down on what ever you like and hopefully you can filter that out by not eating it anymore.

So by you doing something simple in your life, you can make a big impact on your own health and people that are around you.  Just think of all the extra things that you can do when you loose weight that you don’t have to worry about.  Just think if you have kids you can go and play with them longer with out getting tired or so.
